With all the self-centered ego among the residents of Port Charles, it's a wonder how any of them have built genuine relationships with anyone other than their own reflections. No one seems to be aware of cause and effect. Everyone plays the blame game, rarely, if ever, looking at how their actions play a role in their personal problems. Everyone is always right; everyone else is obviously wrong.
At the center of it all is Sonny Corinthos. Everyone wants to get back at him for one reason or another, but of course they're all crazy in his eyes. Never does he see how his lifestyle influences the people around him, let alone his own children. He's got a faithful devotee in Michael, who is now happily home from prison, but unable to spend time with his father per the ruling by the judge who wants Michael to have a real chance in life. Fat chance there: He's the son of a gangster and wants to follow in his father's footsteps. But for now, Michael is surprisingly listening to the judge and telling daddy to stay away. Probably because he doesn't want to risk going back to jail and getting his pretty blonde hair tousled in the shower.

The Bachelorette - Mon, 06.21.2010: It's All In The Touch
This week's episode was pretty boring. Stuff happened - it was just uneventful and not at all interesting. In other words, no one went nuts-so. It's quickly becoming clear that the show is pretty boring without the drama of someone being needy, delusional, or confrontational. This episode had none of that. Even Krazy Kasey didn't seem to have any new krazy left.
Ali and the boys arrive in Iceland and the trip kicks off with a love poem competition, with the most talented bard winning a one-on-one date with the lovely bachelorette. Extra credit is given if the poem includes Icelandic words. Given only one hour to write and considering the depth these guys show us on a weekly basis, it's no surprise that the next Christopher Marlowe isn't hiding in plain sight. But talent isn't what interests Ali - it appears physical affection is what makes a man stand out in the crowd. Taking a cue from Roberto's moves the week before, Kirk walked up to Ali and gave her a hug while reciting his poem and Frank sat next to her to hold her hands. Ali must've preferred the chest-to-chest action (can't blame her, really) because Kirk was enthusiastically declared the winner.

General Hospital - Week of 06.14.2010: Everyone Has a Plan
...and they stink. Except for Carly's plan to take down Lulu and Dante. Hers is the only one based on sound logic and basic human emotion, thus getting the desired (however, predictable) results: break up the relationship of an early-20s couple by dangling a hot young chick (Brook Lynn) who can cook in front of the male party (Dante), thus making the female (Lulu) feel threatened, jealous, and insecure. Add strategically located living quarters for the temptress (across the hall) and plots that require Brook Lynn to show up at Dante's door wearing nothing but a towel (she got locked out trying to catch the cable guy, after all...).
Coupled with the fact that Lulu knows little to nothing about Dante, while Brooklyn grew up with him, knows everything about him, is close with his family, and can apparently make all his favorite childhood recipes from scratch. Since Lulu is the stubborn, "I know everything and stand my ground even when I'm wrong" type, she isn't reacting well to Dante's friendly neighbor. She's already insecure about the fact that Dante admires his mom for birthing him at 17 and raising him successfully, while Lulu herself got impregnated by a married guy at the same age and terminated the pregnancy. Plus, Dante and Lulu basically betrayed everyone she knows and loves when they "did right" by Michael and turned him in for Claudia's murder, making them the Port Charles pariahs. While young, new love is strong, it is also easily threatened by stress and outside influences/lust. Lulu may as well start peeing around Dante to mark her territory and make sure they make it for the long haul.

The Bachelorette - Mon, 06.14.2010: Krazy With a Capital Kasey
This season of The Bachelorette has everyone traveling around the world as they woo Ali, the favorite from last season's The Bachelor. Going on the show seems embarrassingly mortifying, especially the way these people are edited, but I think I could swallow any remaining pride to enjoy the perk of a free around-the-world trip first class style. So when the commercial asking viewers if they want to be the next object of weirdo attention comes on, it's quite tempting. Because they've gotta top this season next time around and my imagination is stumped by what could be better than Ali's journey.
What isn't tempting are the men trying to win her heart this season. It appears the men fall into one of three categories (though some straddle a couple): crazy, quiet, and hot. In that order. I don't really pay attention to what the hot ones are saying because I'm too busy staring in awe (I'm talking to you, Jesse) and I'm not sure what's going on with the quiet ones - perhaps their crazy will come out as the season progresses.

General Hospital - Week of 06.07.2010: Corinthos Should Mean "Duh" in Italian.
It's summertime, so the storylines are concentrating more and more on General Hospital's teenage characters. With school ending and most regular season teen shows on summer hiatus, they gotta draw in the teen audience somehow.
This may also explain the recent actor switches for Morgan and Michael, which resulted in record growth spurts for a single day. I was getting to like the Michael that replaced the actor playing the part when I first started watching: that annoying red-headed kid (let's call him Michael #1) who thankfully went into a coma due to a GSW to the head and came out a blonde, emotionally charged teen (Michael #2) who overreacted to everything, especially the fact that his father wanted a different (read: better) life for him. Yeah...instead of being grateful that you survived a nearly fatal wound that you received solely because of your father's occupation, complain about the fact that your dad won't let you follow in his footsteps and how that must mean he thinks you are too weak to take over the family business. Makes sense. What is clear is that Michael #2 was a momma's boy because he was basically Carly in a pubescent teen boy body: whiny, irrational, and stubborn.
